A Compaq nc6000 business notebook, manufactured by Hewlett Packard, features an Intel Pentium processor, Microsoft Windows XP and a six-cell lithium ion, also known as Li-Ion, battery. When fully charged, the battery can power the laptop for up to five hours. Replace, rather than recharge, the HP nc6000 battery when it becomes damaged or dies.

Power down the HP nc6000 laptop and remove all power cords.

Push the battery release latch, located on the underside of the laptop, to unlock the battery pack from the battery bay.

Remove the battery pack from the battery bay (located on the left side of the laptop) by pulling it outward.

Slide the new battery pack into the battery bay, with the battery contacts facing downward and entering the housing unit first. Slide the battery latch to lock the battery into place.
